How to get your guard card:
Getting your Guard Card is a process. First you must complete the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services Power to Arrest Training (the 8 hour initial guard card class). Our fee for this class is $50.
After you successfully complete the class, you must then apply with the State Bureau of Security and Investigative Services for the Guard Registration Card and have your livescan fingerprints done. The fee for BSIS is $50 and the livescan fee is $61 to $74 depending on the livescan facility. It takes BSIS two to three weeks to process your application and then you should receive your Guard Card in the mail.
You may begin working once you have been approved by BSIS or when you have received your guard card. You must still complete your training in accordance with Assembly Bill 2880. Once you receive your Guard Card or begin employment the State requires that 16 hours of training be completed during the first month. You then have until the sixth month to complete the final 16 hours of training which, including your first 8 hour class, completes the required total of 40 hours of training.
All Guard Skills classes run from 9:00am to 5:00pm and are held at Ole Boy Outdoors, 12556 Jomani Dr., Bakersfield, CA 93312. A registration form is included and is due at the beginning of class.
Our guard skills classes begin @ 9:00am and are held at 12556 Jomani (see map below)
