Participants will focus upon handgun accuracy skills. The participants will be working at varying ranges to improve intentional handgun accuracy. The principles of trigger focused shooting will be discussed along with a minor emphasis upon malfunction drills. Participants will need to bring their firearm, a nominal 100 rounds of ammunition, ear protection and eye protection. Additional magazines and/or speedloaders will also be useful but not necessary. Handguns should be brought into the range unloaded and cased, of for those with CCW permits, holstered. The fee for class is $25.00 for members and $30.00 for non members of the Ole Boy range. The BEGINNING HANDGUN CLASS is designed to give participants a hands-on introduction in the safe handling and proper orientation of a handgun. Students will be provided a thorough introduction to firearm safety, handling and shooting skills. It is our goal to provide beginning shooters with the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to own and use a handgun safely. The shooting portion begins with .22 handguns as students learn to master the fundamentals. Ammunition for .22 handguns will be provided. Students who wish to shoot other types of handguns will be given that opportunity to shoot different calibers of handguns and will pay for the cost of ammunition actually consumed. Defensive Shotgun - 5 Dogs RangeDefensive Shotgun - 5 Dogs Range

This class is a shotgun class oriented toward the basic defensive applications of the shotgun. Students will need to bring their shotgun, ammunition pouch/holder, eye and ear protection, a "billed cap" and appropriate layered clothing. Whatever shotgun that serves you for self-defense is appropriate for this class. Students should bring a nominal 150 rounds of ammunition in the following denominations: approximately 25 rounds buckshot, 25rounds of slug, and at least 125 rounds of economical grade birdshot. 5Dog's hotdogs will be provided for lunch. Students should be prepared for a more active class which may include firing the shotgun from various positions, including from the ground, moving while shooting and tactical application of various types of ammunition for certain exercises. Class will begin at 9:00 am and finish when students have completed the exercises or no later than 4:00 pm. The fee for this class is $100.00.

We have a NEW format for the Holster Workshop. Participants will focus upon safely learning effective technique for drawing their firearm from a holster. Our focus will be upon building effective skills to bring the firearm into effective use. We will be working upon a smooth draw and as we all know, smooth is how you spell “fast”. Please bring a nominal 100 rounds of ammunition for your firearm. If you are using a semiautomatic firearm, multiple magazines will be a must. Revolver shooters will find it advantageous to bring a speedloader or two. The fee for class is $25.00 for members and $30.00 for non members of the Ole Boy range. The holster workshop fulfills the training requirement for those who wish to practice drawing from their holster at the Ole Boy Range.

You must be able to read and complete the written test in English. The fee for class is $50.00 and is paid when you come to class. You must apply with the State of California for your Guard Card and get your fingerprints done before the State will issue you a guard card and you must pay those fees to the fingerprint folks and the State. Thank you for enrolling in a Powers Firearms Training Corporation training opportunity. The fee for class is $150.00 and we accept cash, check or credit cards as payment for the class. Payment is made at the time of the class. Please bring a photo ID. Also, you will need to show us a Certified copy of a Birth Certificate, Military I.D., DD-214, Passport or Certificate of Naturalization. A pad of paper and something to write with may be helpful. The first day of class will be lecture, discussion and a written test. You must pass a written multiple choice test with 85%, in English, without the assistance of a translator before advancing to the range on the 2nd day of class. You will need to provide and shoot a minimum of 100 rounds of ammunition and you must wear clothing and a belt which will allow you to holster a firearm on the 2nd day of class. You will need a minimum of two magazines for a semi-automatic handgun and at least two speedloaders should you choose to shoot a revolver. Five shot revolvers are less than optimal for qualification.
