Multi-State Permits:
NEWS FLASH – NEVADA HONORS ARIZONA CONCEALED CARRY PERMITS AND YOU TOO CAN GET AN ARIZONA PERMIT!
Effective 07-01-2011, Nevada recognizes an Arizona CCW permit as valid within the State of Nevada. Nevada treats resident and non-resident Arizona permits equally. The Arizona permit is recognized or reciprocal in approximately 30 states. As a California resident you may obtain an Arizona permit, and you do not have to travel to Arizona in order to receive a carry permit from Arizona.
You may obtain an Arizona CCW application via their website: http://www.azdps.gov/Services/Concealed_Weapons/Contact/
The permit is a 5 year permit.
The fee: $60.00
You must document training which may include any of the following:
- Completion of any National Rifle Association firearms safety or training course.
- Evidence of current military service or proof of honorable discharge or general discharge under honorable conditions from the United States armed forces. (DD-214)
- A valid current or expired concealed weapon, firearm or handgun permit or license that is issued by another state or a political subdivision of another state and that has a training or testing requirement for initial issuance.
- Completion of any other firearms training that the department of public safety deems acceptable.
There is some anecdotal information indicating Arizona may not accept a California CCW as proof of training. We advise you to send a copy of your latest training certificate (it cannot be older than 5 years) and a copy of the Kern County Sheriff’s policy which indicates their policy regarding training (you might want to highlight and/or “post it” the pages where the training is mandated. You will find a copy of the Kern County Sheriff’s policy at the above link.
Another option:
UTAH and FLORIDA CCW PERMITS (Multi-State permits):
Powers Firearms Training Corporation is now offering the Utah and Florida Concealed Weapons Permit Classes. These classes are unique in that you do not have to be a resident of the States in order to apply for and receive a permit. In fact, if you do not have any disqualifying convictions, the States must issue you a permit. This permit is valid in approximately 30 states, EXCLUDING CALIFORNIA. The permit in Utah is valid for 5 years and has a nominal fee for re-issuance. The permit for Florida is valid for 7 years! There is no class to take to renew your permit. The class to get the Utah permit is approximately 4 hours long and you must attend and actual Utah permit class to obtain the Utah permit. The State of Utah will only honor a class teaching a Utah approved outline. The State of Florida is more flexible. We will provide fingerprinting, notary and passport style photographs as appropriate. When you finish class, all you will have to do is attach the application fee and put the application in the mail for the Utah permit. Florida permits require you to go to a law enforcement agency to obtain your permit. Please contact us with any further questions. The State of Florida requires you to discharge a firearm as part of the training as part of the educational process.
We have the following options for you to obtain a “Multi-State permit”
Option #1
Take the Utah/Florida CCW class. The Florida permit will be included at no additional charge for those taking our Utah permit class. The Utah class must be taught in full prior to meeting the requirements for any other State class. We will meet the Florida training requirements for a course of instruction in firearms safety and the law pursuant to Florida statute after meeting the Utah State requirements. We will observe you shooting for the Florida permit as required by Florida law. We will provide the firearm and the ammunition for this segment at no additional fee.
If you are taking the Utah/Florida class in Bakersfield, we will shoot on the night of class. If you are taking the Utah/Florida Class in Bishop, you must come to the Bishop Gun Club at a pre-arranged time on the following day to shoot the gun. We will provide the Notary services and the photographs at no additional cost. You must obtain your fingerprints from a local law enforcement agency for this permit.
Option #2
Take a California Concealed Weapons Class, either the initial class or the renewal class. Just inform us of your desire to obtain the Florida paperwork and we will charge you an additional $25.00 for the paperwork. Due to the way in which we now approach the California concealed weapons permit class, this class will fulfill the training requirement of a course of instruction in firearms safety and the law pursuant to Florida statute. We will observe you shooting for the California class as required by Florida law.
For Bakersfield or Kernville attendees, we will provide you with the certifications and the paperwork needed to apply for the Florida permit. However, you are also invited to come to the next Utah/Florida class where you may obtain your photograph and have your signature notarized by paying an additional $20.00.
For Bishop area attendees, if you are taking the California Concealed Weapons class in Bishop, and are issued a permit through Mammoth PD, you will need to report to the range, after class to demonstrate that you can safely load, discharge and un-load a firearm. We will provide the firearm and ammunition for Mammoth PD permit holders.
For Bishop area attendees, if you are taking the California Concealed Weapons class and are issued your permit through a local agency such as Inyo or Mono counties, or through Bishop Police Department, the shooting portion of your California class will suffice to meet the requirements under Florida law.
For Bishop area attendees, we will arrange for a Notary and a photograph person to be available to notarize your documents and take your photographs. This service will be provided for an additional $20.00 fee.
Option #3
Florida requires you to take a certain level of class and discharge the firearm. So, we have decided to make an additional option available. Here is how it works: you register to take a California CCW renewal course: You let us know that you do not need to renew your California CCW at this time, but you wish to get the Florida permit; You take the standard California renewal CCW class and we provide you with the Florida paperwork instead of the California certificate. The fee for this is the standard $50.00 fee and you will need to provide 50 rounds of ammunition.
Where are the classes held?
